A female Black Swallowtail on a fresh Spring Thistle flower. This was taken last weekend along the creek near our home.

Jeff Great Butterfly on the thistle.I saw you comment on the snake yesterday. Used to spend summers in S.Va. as a Kid and I'm quite familiar w/these BAD BOYS.
They are VERY INTERESTING to watch if not disturbed.
