Taken at Cathedral-Basilica Mary Queen of the World in Montreal, June 2011. The athedral is a scaled-down replica of St. Peter's Basilica in Rome. Work began in 1875; it was consecrated in 1894; in 1904 it became a parish, and in 1919, it was made a minor basilica in 1919 by Pope Benedict XV. It was rededicated in 1955 to Mary,Queen of the World by Pope Pius XII.On May 14, 2006, the cathedral was named a National Historic Site of Canada.
