Great shot James!!! It looks like it's right out of the old west! Would look really good in sepia too. #139568Karen Lewis-Gunn June 20, 2004
James, the composition on this is spot on! It is creative and interesting. I love the low angle you have used too. You have used up the frame nicely. The colours are good and DOF is great. I agree with Len that it would look great in sepia too!Well done on a wonderful creative photo! I love it!!!!!!!!!! #605938

Good composition on this. I was in Bodie about 28 years ago and wondered if those buildings were still standing. It's an interesting place. #605943Gary O`Dell June 20, 2004

I was there 40 years ago. Thanks for the memory update. #606532James C. Ritchie June 20, 2004
Karen L. hit upon one of my "rules of engagement" when shooting. Everyone sees the world from "eye-level," i.e., standing up, so I try to find a different viewpoint. Often times kneeling or sitting (and sometimes even laying down) on the ground provides the most interesting composition.Except for faded paint, Bodie is still pretty much as it was in 1962 when it became a California State Historic Park.
Visit my web site and BP gallery for more Bodie photos. (Four of them were published on the dust jacket of a new Bodie book published last summer.) As I add more Bodie pix to my web site, they'll probably appear here first.
