From Wikipedia: The High Line is a 1-mile New York City linear park built on a 1.45-mile section of the former elevated freight railroad spur called the West Side Line, which runs along the lower west side of Manhattan; it has been redesigned and planted as an aerial greenway. The High Line Park currently runs from Gansevoort Street, one block below West 12th Street, in the Meatpacking District, up to 30th Street, through the neighborhood of Chelsea to the West Side Yard, near the Javits Convention Center.
The recycling of the railway into an urban park has spurred real estate development in the neighborhoods which lie along the line.

I walked the High Line last week. It is a very beautiful oasis three stories above the bustling city. The gardens are luscious and the views remarkable.

Fantastic slice of urban landscape Michelle, info very interesting also!! #9765697Deb Koskovich October 27, 2011
This one made me do a double take! Love the urban-ness (or would that be "urbanity") of the scene, and the comp is so cool -- a giant man looking around from the back of the building -- hence the double take! #9765740Renee Doyle October 27, 2011
Very cool cityscape Michelle!!! Well seen and excellent capture! #9765759Nikki McDonald October 27, 2011
I agree with the others, Michelle -- it's great to tour with you and what a wonderfully strong backdrop for this bit of nature you have shown us here. Great textures and bold colors and composition. The black and white billboard in the midst of the buildings is terrific. #9765762Neal D. Hatcher October 27, 2011
Amen to all the above-Wish I could walk it #9765791Karen E. Michaels October 27, 2011

LOL.....I know the area well.....well let's just say I knew the area well....looks like there have been some incredible changes there. I've seen the park on "Sunday Morning" truly a testament to recycling and building community...I hope it was all inclusive...wonderful capture Michelle...Cheers =^..^= #9765878Marilyn Cornwell October 27, 2011

Looks like the High Line would be a great place to shoot. Wonderful comp, color and detail. #9766915Michelle Alton October 27, 2011
Re: Marilyn's comment, "I cannot believe it Michelle..." Take a look at Marilyn's post today, entitled: "Live Charged." Neither of us was aware of the other's post at the time of our respective postings. Mine was shot in NYC and hers in Venice Beach California. Unbelievable! #9767050John Connolly October 27, 2011

I have been reading about this place for awhile now, Michelle, and this is such a an engaging capture! Love the juxtaposition of the gritty buildings, the greenery and golden grasses, and the large B&W billboard! It's on my list of things to do in NYC next time I'm back there. #9767565Robert K.
