An abstract take on my wet umbrella; the rain here in DC is approaching biblical proportions.

Excellent comp and color! Jeff #472858Chris Budny June 27, 2006
Thanks, Jeff! I have little-to-no experience with flash. I was trying to "freeze" the rainfall last night, off my balcony, and quickly gave up on that. When I put the umbrella down, the water droplets on the bright colors were kind of interesting. The first results were too flash-heavy, and so I tried diffusing my flash (with a Tupperware bowl!) which was an improvement. Those pictures were ok, but not as sharp as I'd hoped, so I started playing with the crop, then applied Polar twice, and got this "MasterCard-esque" abstract! #2956309Tamera S. Phillips June 27, 2006

Thank you both... I'm still a little bemused that this one placed Finalist over some of my other entries, but I should know by now I can't predict my own entries' outcomes! #3080749Kerby Pfrangle July 25, 2006

Thanks. I actually said the same thing earlier on! Interesting that it started out as a rectangle with just 3 triangular patches of color (blue, red, yellow)! #3142730michael m. grogan September 09, 2006
An absolute awesome abstract Chris, well done on the finalist, #3286656Chris Budny September 09, 2006
Thanks! That Polarize filter is a lot of fun to explore; hard to predict just how the final result will come out. #3286786Sign up for an interactive online photography course to get critiques on your photos.
