"Infrared Barn 3" [Contest Finalists May 2006]
Uploaded: May 02, 2006 04:58:41
Infrared image of a barn that belongs to a friend near Somerville, Tennessee. The surreal colors in this photograph are the result of special camera settings( especially white balance ) and color channel swapping in Photo shop CS2.
I use a Hoya R72 infrared filter . Most of my infrared photos are shot at f/8 at 28 mm. I then adjust the
shutter for a slightly overexposed exposure. White balance is adjusted with each shot with the "PRE" setting with the filters on. Focus is a bit tricky. Altho bright sunny days work best, some
intresting results can be obtained on cloudy days. Partly cloudy skys can realy make an Infrared photo look its best. For more examples of this technique, visit my gallery. Your
comments are most welcome.
